WORKWORK1: The Root of Why I Started WORKWORK // Women in DTC
A space for people who do their best.
Inner Work
The problem with most people is that they lose control of their emotions. It is the emotions that control the behavior of the human, not the human who controls the emotions. When we lose control we say things that we don’t want to say, and do things that we don’t want to do... We must learn to control the emotions so we have enough personal power to change our fear-based agreements [with ourselves]. - Don Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements
This is where I’m starting. The lack of control over my emotions is largely the reason that I began Inner Work. I was at the crux of leaving an old relationship and entering a new one that started to expose all of the shadows I had avoided working on for the majority of my life. That spotlight on my vulnerabilities made me someone I didn’t like. I said things I didn’t mean and I felt helpless in my ability to change my response. Inner Work taught me how to create space between what I was feeling and my body’s physical reaction to it. I’m excited to live in that space of self-inquiry with you, finding truth, freedom, and presence.
Outer Work
I’m a mentor on Mentorpass where I get to talk to ambitious and inspiring founders all the time. It allows me to have 1:1 conversations where I feel like I get to have a real impact. Recently I’ve been having sessions with Margaret Nyamumbo, the founder behind Kahawa 1893 Coffee, and on a mission to empower women through coffee. Staying true to her mission, she asked me if I knew of female-owned ad agencies. Sadly I didn’t have as much as I’d like off the top of my head. It motivated me to ask others and search through my network to find other women who either own agencies or freelance within the E-commerce / DTC space. I’ve created a list of women in DTC through a new curation tool I’ve been playing around with. If you have other Female-led Agencies + Freelancers in DTC that should be added to the list, send me a note at erin@pinkskies.co and I’ll make sure to add them!
Love,
Erin (:
